Healing comes in waves. Just like the tides, it doesn’t always arrive all at once, but it comes. Some waves crash loudly, overwhelming us with their intensity, while others gently lap at the edges of our hearts, soothing the places that hurt. At the time that I took this photo, my heart was very recently broken. I came to the ocean, looking for healing...desperate for wholeness to return to me. Every time I see this image, I am reminded of the renewal and restoration provided by the steadyness of the ocean, if only we take the time to sit and be.
